The Family Structure in V.S. Naipaul's Miguel Street

The traditional families presented in Miguel Street are hells of misunderstandings and quarrels while the non-conventional families are made of failures, dreamers and fakes. V.S. Naipaul views his society as alienated, failed and corrupt. He pessimistically captures families with many problems and disintegrated structures. This work is grounded in the New Historicism approach which takes historical situation as an integral part of a work of literature.

A graduate from the University of Burundi in English Language and Literature Department where he got his BA, Rivardo Niyonizigiye is also a blogger, actor and playwright; author of Les Retrouvailles published in Paris in 2014 and many other unpublished works. Member of many cultural groups, he keeps a cultural blog "akanyaburunga" from 2012.
